Effective .

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing AverageCostOfLiving you agree to be bound by these terms and our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site.

2. What we provide

We publish cost-of-living reference data for cities worldwide, aggregated from public price databases and normalized to US Dollars. We also expose interactive tools (currency switcher, salary calculator, city comparison) that compute derived figures from the underlying basket. All output is informational only.

3. Accuracy and no warranty

The data, prices, indices, and salary translations on this site are estimates. They are provided "as is" and "as available," without any warranty — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, or non-infringement.

Currency fluctuations, sample size, sparse data, and timing can produce variance. Always verify locally before making relocation, hiring, or financial decisions.

4. Acceptable use

  • Don't scrape the site at a rate that affects availability for other users.
  • Don't reproduce derived metrics without crediting AverageCostOfLiving.
  • Don't misrepresent our output as guaranteed-accurate, especially in tax, legal, or financial contexts.
  • Don't attempt to bypass rate limits, security controls, or modify the dataset and re-publish as ours.

5. Data licensing

Our compiled dataset and derived metrics are released under CC BY-NC 4.0. You may reuse non-commercially with a link back to AverageCostOfLiving. For commercial use, reach out via the contact page.

6. Third-party links and tooling

We may link to external sites for context. We don't control or endorse those sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or policies. Use them at your own risk.

The city, country, and region thumbnails (Open Graph share images and on-page header banners) were generated using BulkTemplates (bulktemplates.com). The generator is third-party tooling we use to render those images at build time; we are not affiliated with BulkTemplates and make no warranty about its service.

Frequently asked questions

Is the data on AverageCostOfLiving accurate?
We aggregate from public price databases and normalize to USD, but prices are estimates with built-in variance. Use the figures as a relative comparison between cities, not as a precise quote for budgeting an actual move.
Can I rely on the salary calculator for tax decisions?
No. The annual-gross figure uses a flat 25% effective tax assumption that doesn't reflect your jurisdiction, residency status, or income bracket. Consult a qualified tax advisor before relying on any number from this site.
Can I scrape your site?
Please don't hammer our endpoints. The derived dataset is available under CC BY-NC 4.0; if you need bulk access, reach out via the contact link on the About page rather than scraping.
